You heard it first here!

Bought a very nice pair of jeans for a fiver at my local Dunnes Stores this evening. The label had the brand name blacked out but on close inspection it turned out to bear the 'george' label. For those who dont know, George is a clothing label used by Asda. Asda, by the way, is owned by Walmart.

Across the country, shoppers are puzzled by the empty shelves at Dunnes branches this January. I spoke with a member of staff and they admitted that theyd been told that Asda were taking over but major changes would not come into effect for a year or two. So,, Margaret Heffernan, whats the story? Is Dunnes really Irish like your advert says?
